Tenth Amendment Center: More Hypocrisy from the “Enforce the Law” Crowd

...from Tenth Amendment Center

Hypocrisy from Republicans, part 834,998:

When Jeff Sessions was being pressured to back off on marijuana prohibition, he said – among other nonsense – his job is to “enforce the law.” And if you don’t like the law, get congress to overturn it.

This is a cop out.

In response to our recent report that the Trump administration – via the ATF – is enforcing federal gun control measures even more aggressively than Barack Obama did, a number of his supporters vehemently complained, claiming that he has to “enforce the law” even if the law is unconstitutional.

FYI – that’s absurdly wrong.

Then on Monday, Congress passed a law that included some restrictions on US support for war in Yemen. Donald Trump issued a signing statement saying he’ll ignore that part (along with other parts) of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for 2019.

If you’re waiting for Jefferson Sessions and other Trump apologists to come out with this “enforce the law” mantra when it comes to the President’s signing statement, you’re going to be waiting a long time.
