Tenth Amendment Center: Who Decides? James Madison on Interpreting the Constitution

Image
...from Tenth Amendment Center For the “Father of the Constitution,” giving interpretive supremacy to any one branch would destroy the separation of powers. So who decides? Tenth Amendment Center: Ann Arbor Becomes Third City to Decriminalize Psilocybin Despite Federal Prohibition

Image
...from Tenth Amendment Center ANN ARBOR , Mich. (Sept. 24, 2020) – On Monday, the Ann Arbor City Council unanimously voted to decriminalize psilocybin and other naturally occurring psychedelics despite federal prohibition. Passage of the resolution takes a first step toward nullifying federal prohibition in practice and effect. Council Members Anne Bannister (D) and Jeff Hayner (D) sponsored the resolution. Under the new policy directive, enforcement of laws against a wide range of entheogenic substances such as psilocybin and ayahuasca will become among the city’s lowest enforcement priorities. The resolution declares that “it shall be the policy of the City of Ann Arbor that the investigation and arrest of persons for planting, cultivating, purchasing, transporting, distributing, engaging in practices with, or possessing Entheogenic Plants or plant compounds which are on the Federal Schedule 1 list shall be the lowest law enforcement priority for the City of Ann Arbor.” The re...

Tenth Amendment Center: No, the U.S. Supreme Court Will Not Save Us

Image
...from Tenth Amendment Center The U.S. Supreme Court will not save us. It doesn’t matter which party gets to pick the  replacement to fill Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg’s seat  on the U.S. Supreme Court. The battle that is gearing up right now is yet more distraction and spin to keep us oblivious to the steady encroachment on our rights by the architects of the American Police State. Americans can no longer rely on the courts to mete out justice. Although the courts were established to serve as Courts of Justice, what we have been saddled with, instead, are Courts of Order. This is true at all levels of the judiciary, but especially so in the highest court of the land, the U.S. Supreme Court, which is seemingly more concerned with establishing order and protecting government interests than with upholding the rights of the people enshrined in the U.S. Constitution. As a result, the police and other government agents have been generally empowered to probe, poke, pinch, tas...

Tenth Amendment Center: The Supreme Court’s Actual Job

Image
...from Tenth Amendment Center If the Supreme Court just did its job, it wouldn’t matter all that much who the justices actually were. So, what is the job of the SCOTUS? To judge cases based on what the law says. And the supreme law of the land is the Constitution. That’s not a partisan thing. The #supremecourt has no business pushing Democrat or Republican party agendas. Their job is to follow the #Constitution . Nothing more, and nothing less. @mmaharrey10th pic.twitter.com/75zvXRviPj — TenthAmendmentCenter (@TenthAmendment) September 22, 2020 For Further Reading Constitution 101: The Judiciary and Judicial Review Who Made the Supreme Court King? Tenth Amendment Center: The Federal Reserve is Helping. Destroy the Economy, That is

Image
...from Tenth Amendment Center The Federal Reserve’s “helping” is destroying your money and the economy. It’s also enabling the most powerful government in the history of the world to keep growing. I recently appeared on the Liam McCollum show to talk about the Fed and its response to the coronavirus pandemic. Most people just assume Federal Reserve money-printing is necessary to support the economy in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic. But the Fed’s actions are hurting the economy in the long-run. And the massive amount of inflation it is creating is devaluing your money. Meanwhile, it is enabling the federal government to continue to borrow and spend at a staggering rate. All of this will have nasty consequences, as I explain. The post The Federal Reserve is Helping. Destroy the Economy, That is first appeared on Tenth Amendment Center Blog . Tenth Amendment Center: To the Governor: Vermont Bill for Commercial Marijuana Sales Despite Federal Prohibition

Image
...from Tenth Amendment Center MONTPELIER Vt. (Sept. 22, 2020) – Today, the Vermont Senate gave final approval to a bill that would tax and regulate the sale of marijuana in the state despite federal prohibition along with a second measure to create a process for the automatic expungement of some marijuana possession convictions. A bipartisan coalition of Senators introduced Senate Bill 54 ( S.54 ) in January 2019.  Vermont legalized the possession of one ounce or less and home cultivation of marijuana  by adults over 21 in 2018, but the law does not allow commercial production or distribution of cannabis for the recreational market. Passage of S.54 would create a regulatory structure for the cultivation and sale of marijuana in the state. The proposed law would create various categories of business licenses and a taxing structure. The Senate initially passed S.54 by a 23-5 vote in February 2019. The House passed a significantly amended version of the bill on Feb. 27 of...
